September
A monthly capsule
September felt like one long exhale for me. A month where summer’s rush slowed and I spent more time outdoors and finally relaxing from work.
We made a point to do weekend trips outside the city to places we always say we’ll visit but never do (Prairie Wolf Open Space, Highland Park, Wilmette) and it was rejuvenating.

I started ending each week with facetiming some gals, which turned into a book club (the kind that’s more catching up about life than serious literary analysis) and so far, we’ve read The Winter Garden, The Herbalist and next up is The Bombshell.
Then, at the end of the month, I took a quick trip to Boulder to visit my dad and some friends. Every time I’m there, it’s the same magic — the smell of pine in the morning, the orange glow of the flatirons on my way to Boxcar or Alpine Modern for a coffee. I hiked Sanitas and Enchanted Mesa, stopped by Lolita’s and Dish Gourmet, caught up with the Cedar & Hyde and Jones girls. Wandering my favorite neighborhoods and ending the day up in Nederland at Crosscut never fails to bring me back to myself.
It’s always such a funny, full-circle feeling being back in Boulder and walking past places that hold so many high school and college memories and realizing how much life has stretched and shaped me since then. The town feels both the same and completely different, and I do too. It is truly wild visiting an old chapter of your life and seeing it through a steadier, more mature lens.

So much has changed in Boulder but it still holds the same grounding energy. It’s one of those rare places that keeps its heart even through transition and it’s always so fun to relive my old routines!
This month reminded me that elevating the everyday doesn’t always mean tacking on more but doing what feels good and honoring that. And now, I’m so looking forward to sweater weather, my birthday month (28!??), and cozying up in the city. Here’s to October — may it be exactly what we need.
